Our ADHD assessment process is informed by NICE guidance and the Adult ADHD Assessment Quality Assurance Standard (AQAS). We take a comprehensive, individualised approach to understanding your experiences, identifying your needs and determining whether you meet the diagnostic criteria for ADHD.
1. Pre-assessment questionnaires
We will send you a pack of questionnaires to complete and return before your appointment. These help us understand your current experiences, symptoms, developmental history and the impact of any difficulties on your everyday life.
2. Comprehensive clinical interview
We will conduct a structured clinical interview, using a recognised assessment tool such as the ACE or ACE+ or CAARS-2 , DSM-IV criteria. The interview typically lasts around two hours and explores your symptoms, developmental history and their impact on different areas of your life. Where possible, we also invite input from someone who knows you well and can provide additional information about your experiences.
4. Comprehensive written report and feedback session
You will receive a detailed professional report outlining the assessment findings, diagnostic conclusions and relevant recommendations. With your consent, you can share this report with professionals and others involved in your care or daily life, such as your GP, college or university, or workplace.
We will also arrange a one-hour feedback session to discuss the findings, help you understand the outcome and recommendations, and give you the opportunity to ask questions.
Our aim is to provide a thorough and supportive assessment that helps you better understand your experiences and identify appropriate support and adjustments for your everyday life.
