Post-Diagnostic Support for Autism and ADHD

At Autism Spectrum Psychotherapy Ltd, we offer post-diagnostic support to help individuals make sense of an autism or ADHD diagnosis, develop greater self-understanding and explore practical ways to support their wellbeing and everyday life.

Receiving a diagnosis can bring relief, validation and a new perspective on past experiences. It can also raise questions about identity, relationships, work, education and the future. Our neurodiversity-affirming approach provides a supportive space to explore these experiences at your own pace, without judgement or pressure to change who you are.

Our post-diagnostic support may include:

  • Understanding your diagnosis: Exploring how autism or ADHD may influence your experiences, strengths, communication, sensory needs and emotional regulation.
  • Self-understanding and acceptance: Making sense of past experiences and developing a more compassionate understanding of yourself.
  • Emotional wellbeing: Exploring anxiety, self-esteem, burnout and the emotional impact of diagnosis, including later-life diagnosis.
  • Practical strategies: Identifying approaches to support executive functioning, organisation, routines, sensory needs and everyday challenges.
  • Relationships and communication: Understanding differences in communication and helping partners, family members and others better understand your needs.
  • Reasonable adjustments: Exploring appropriate adjustments and support in the workplace, education and everyday environments.
  • Family and relationship support: Helping partners and family members develop a better understanding of neurodivergence and strengthen their relationships.

– Exploring next steps:Identifying further support, including mentoring, coaching, psychotherapy and relevant community resources.

Our support is tailored to each individual’s circumstances, questions and priorities. We recognise that every neurodivergent person is different, and there is no single right way to understand or navigate a diagnosis.

Our aim is to help you feel understood, develop confidence in your identity and access the understanding, strategies and support you need to move forward in a way that works for you.
