Counselling Psychologist & Psychotherapist Associate
With more than 14 years of clinical experience working across the lifespan, Alessia Potere is an experienced counselling psychologist and psychotherapist registered in both the UK with the HCPC and in Italy with the Association of Italian Psychologists and Psychotherapists. She currently works at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust within the CAMHS (Children and Adolescents Mental Health Service).
Alessia has extensive experience supporting young people and adults on the autism spectrum through a neurodiversity-affirming approach that recognises autism as a natural and valid way of experiencing and interacting with the world. She offers a safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental therapeutic space where autistic individuals can explore their experiences, identity, relationships, emotional wellbeing, anxiety, sensory overwhelm, social difficulties, self-esteem, and challenges related to masking and burnout.
Her work is tailored to each person’s individual needs, strengths, and communication style. Drawing on integrative, psychodynamic, and CBT-informed approaches, Alessia supports clients in developing greater self-understanding, emotional resilience, and healthier ways of coping, while valuing and respecting neurodivergent identities.
In addition to her specialist work with autistic clients, Alessia provides psychological support for low mood and depression, anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, relationship difficulties, and identity exploration. She works with children, adolescents, and adults, offering bespoke therapeutic interventions shaped around each client’s unique experiences and goals.
Alessia offers therapy in both Italian and English. She values empathy and builds open, honest, and collaborative therapeutic relationships with her clients, while adhering to high professional and ethical standards including confidentiality, privacy, and safety. Sessions are available face-to-face in the North London clinic and online.
