Forensic Psychologist Associate
As a neurodivergent practitioner psychologist with many years of experience in forensic and clinical settings, Dr. Amy offers a compassionate, client-centred approach when working with clients and their unique challenges. She is currently employed within the NHS, where she is the Lead of the Psychological Therapies Service across two Category B prisons, providing therapy for individuals with a wide range of needs, including complex trauma and PTSD.
Alongside her therapeutic work, Dr. Needham provides specialist ADHD assessments and cognitive assessments for both adults and children. She adopts a neuroaffirmative approach, recognising and valuing neurodiversity while supporting clients to understand their strengths, challenges, and individual ways of processing the world.
Grounded in evidence-based therapeutic techniques, Dr. Needham uses an integrated approach to therapy, tailoring her methods to suit each client. She draws from a range of modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), attachment theory, and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT). With a special interest in ADHD, PTSD, personality, and relational dynamics, Dr. Needham’s approach promotes empowerment, helping clients overcome adversity, manage mental health conditions, and address past trauma. Dr Needham offers therapy online on Fridays and during the weekends .
